Join music education legend and HSC Examiner John Ockwell on a journey through music from the 20th and 21st century. Complimented by exercises in rhythmic and melodic dictation and sight-singing, students will learn to use their musicological foundations to analyse the works of composers such as Debussy, Messiaen and Schoenberg, and their influence on the Western art music aesthetic.
This course is the perfect preparation or extension for those intending to (or who are already) studying International Baccalaureate (IB) Music or HSC Music 2/Music Extension as Music 1900-Now is essential knowledge for HSC Music 2.

Classes take place during NSW School Term periods. There are 6 sessions per school term.

Open to all musicians aged 14-19 (Years 9-12) and particularly suited to those studying elective music. Students should be very confident in reading and understanding musical notation to get the most out of this course.
