The Big Busk 2026
On Saturday 19 September, SYO joins forces with youth orchestras across the country for the biggest Big Busk yet, with over 2,000 young musicians hitting the streets in five cities.
This is our ninth year turning Sydney’s most iconic spots into open-air concert halls.
In the weeks leading up to the big day, we’ll each be reaching out to family, friends and the community through our MyCause pages to raise donations towards our goal of $50,000.
Every donation helps build momentum and brings us closer to funding instruments, music, and opportunities for young musicians across NSW.
As a registered charity, SYO relies on donations to fund the instruments, sheet music, and infrastructure that make quality music education possible.
Even though members pay tuition fees, those fees only cover a portion of the true cost of running a full symphonic training program, things like professional conductor and tutor fees, venue hire, and day-to-day running costs. Fees don’t stretch to cover the bigger, one-off investments that make SYO’s training truly world-class: quality instruments, sheet music for a full orchestral library, and the infrastructure that keeps opportunities accessible to every young musician. Donations bridge that gap, meaning the experience isn’t limited only to what fees alone could provide — and that no talented musician is turned away simply because of their family’s financial circumstances.
