Why Audition?

With 13 orchestras, an annual audition allows SYO to place musicians in the right ensemble for the musicians’ developmental level. 

The audition is not designed to be a scary or daunting experience, but rather an opportunity for SYO Conductors and Instrumental Specialists to check in on how returning musicians’ skills are developing or where new musicians should be placed in the program.

Learning how to prepare an audition is also a critical skill for all musicians – the more you audition, the better you are at auditioning!
