SYO Digital Programs for Schools

SYO is dedicated to cultivating opportunities for young individuals to actively engage with orchestral music. Amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, SYO, with the support of the Crown and Packer Family Foundations, has pioneered three innovative initiatives to empower young people to connect with orchestral music. We are proud to announce our collaboration with Learning for Good, a leading digital tech company, to provide complimentary access to these resources for schools.

SYO Beginners Program

Tailored to facilitate the instruction of orchestral instruments, SYO Beginners offers comprehensive teaching frameworks and instructional videos covering the initial 32 weeks of learning. Each guide, designed for 15 different orchestral instruments, encompasses introductory techniques, instrument care, beginner repertoire examples, and fundamental concepts, supported by illustrative videos.

Discover the Orchestra

Expanding on the acclaim garnered by “George Meets the Orchestra,” which has been viewed over 2 million times, SYO presents a newly crafted expanded video resource introducing the instruments and sections of the orchestra. Hosted by Lucia and James, these engaging videos combine interviews and demonstrations, providing young enthusiasts with an immersive experience into the world of orchestral music.

Discover the Music

This educational resource comprises four comprehensive units designed for both schools and students to delve into the intricacies of orchestral music. Featuring a diverse array of activities, videos, and recordings, teachers can enhance their classroom instruction, guiding students on journey of discovery.

In partnership with Learning for Good this teaching and learning resource is now available to schools and teachers through the Learning for Good digital platform.
