Introducing the SYO Youth Advisory Group 

Sydney Youth Orchestras (SYO) is launching its first-ever Youth Advisory Group—a team of passionate young leaders who will help shape the future of SYO. 

This group will play a pivotal role in making SYO more exciting, inclusive, and engaging for young musicians. 

As the first-ever Youth Advisory Group, members will help define the group’s purpose, structure, and long-term impact, setting the stage for future generations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Be a Voice for Young Musicians 

Share ideas and feedback to improve the SYO experience. 

Represent the perspectives of young people in orchestral music. 


Help Shape Events & Programs
 

Collaborate on projects and initiatives that strengthen the SYO community. 

Bring fresh ideas to events, concerts, and outreach programs.


Gain Leadership & Industry Insights
 

Work alongside SYO staff, board members, and arts professionals. 

Learn about arts management, programming, and advocacy. 


Champion Diversity & Accessibility
 

Help make orchestral music more inclusive and accessible. 

Support SYO’s goal of reaching more young musicians across NSW. 


Commitment & Support
 

The group will meet around four times a year (both in-person and online). 

Flexible involvement to fit around school, uni, and music commitments. 

Travel bursaries available upon application. 

 

Who Should Apply? 

Open only to SYO members. 

Young people aged 15-25 who are passionate about music, leadership, and making a difference. 

We welcome applications from musicians across all SYO ensembles and backgrounds.
