The Big Busk is SYO’s most spectacular annual fundraising event where all of our orchestras perform throughout Sydney’s CBD, connecting Sydneysiders and beyond through the power of music.
This isn’t just background music – this is genuine busking at its finest. Our talented young SYO musicians will be giving it their all to capture the attention of thousands of people, leaving lasting impressions on both eyes and ears. Expect foot-stomping, hand-clapping fun as our orchestras battle it out in peer-to-peer fundraising competition!
With less than 7% government funding, SYO relies on the generosity of supporters to continue nurturing and developing young musicians.
Every dollar raised goes directly to our Enterprise Fund, helping us acquire orchestral instruments, expand our music library, and support SYO’s critical infrastructure.
SYO is a not-for-profit charity, dedicated to supporting young musicians. We aim to keep our fees as low as possible for our musicians, covering the cost of approximately half of what a participation fee costs. We do this to ensure everyone can be part of SYO.
The Big Busk helps us to purchase and upgrade important things like; music, instruments, computers, music stands, first aid kits, photocopiers, and run the trucks and vans!
