Wilcannia – Big Sky Tour

SYO’s Big Sky Tour reaches Wilcannia with an afternoon performance at Wilcannia Central School.  Bringing exceptional orchestral music to this vibrant Darling River community. Under the leadership of conductor Benjamin Northey, SYO’s talented young musicians will collaborate with local artists including the Wilcannia Community Choir, Leroy Johnson, and Nancy Bates, creating a truly special cross-cultural musical celebration.

This unique partnership showcases the power of music to bridge communities, as SYO’s world premiere of Andrew Howes’ Royal Far West centenary commission joins forces with Wilcannia’s rich local musical traditions. The school setting provides an inspiring environment for both young and established musicians to connect, offering the Wilcannia community an unforgettable afternoon of collaborative artistry that celebrates both classical excellence and local cultural heritage.
