Who is SYO Summer School for?
This week-long program is open to all school-aged students in NSW who play an orchestral instrument. There is also an HSC preparatory add on for musicians in years 10,11,12.

When is Summer School
Monday the 18- Saturday the 23 January 2021, 9am – 3pm. The HSC program  Monday the 13 – Thursday 21 Janurary 2021 -3pm – 6pm

Where is SYO Summer School?
In 2021, SYO Summer School will be held at Santa Sabina College Strathfield, with the final concert performance on Saturday being held at the Conservatorium of Music.

What do I bring to SYO Summer School?

  • Instrument
  • Music – This will be distributed on the first day of Summer School
  • Morning Tea and Lunch

What do I get when I enrol for SYO Summer School?
When you sign up to SYO Summer School you will receive

  • Entry into the five day SYO Summer School program and performance at Verbrugghen Hall, The Conservatorium of Music
  • An SYO Summer School T-shirt

What group will I be playing in at SYO Summer School?
There are three different groups at SYO Summer School

How are the groups at SYO Summer School chosen?
Based on your enrolment details and the split of musicians participating in the program, the groups will be selected on the first day of Summer School.

Can I move groups at SYO Summer School?
Changes will only be made if the artistic staff see a need to do so and no changes will be made after the second day.

How much does SYO Summer School cost?

Can I use my Creative Kids voucher?
Yes! SYO accepts Creative Kids Vouchers. Be sure to include them in your enrolment form.

I live in regional NSW, can I still participate?
Yes. For those living in Regional NSW, Summer School is open to you too! Please contact us at [email protected] to see how we can organise the best option for you.

Do you offer any financial aid to attend SYO Summer School?

Scholarship Applications Close: Friday 27 November 2020
Scholarships Awarded: by Friday 4 December 2020

SYO is committed to ensuring all talented musicians, regardless of financial circumstances, have the opportunity to be part of SYO. With the very generous support of many private donors, companies and foundations we provide a number of full scholarships for eligible regional applicants to attend SYO’s Summer School in 2021.

Any applicant who is a primary or secondary school student and resides at least 200km from Sydney CBD is eligible to apply. Successful applicants will receive a waiver on the 2021 participation fee. The amount of this bursary is dependent on the circumstances of the applicant.
