Which Donation Campaign you would you like to support?

SYO Opportunity Fund

At the Sydney Youth Orchestra, we believe the love of music transcends all social, cultural and economic backgrounds.We have established a fund – the SYO Opportunity fund - to ensure that talented young musicians can be part of an orchestra, and have access to exceptional teachers and conductors, regardless of their financial circumstances.The fund also allows us to provide programs for young musicians and communities in geographically isolated areas of New South Wales.

We invite you to become a donor to the fund.

Donations will enable gifted musicians from across New South Wales to come together and be part of an amazing community. They’ll create music from the world’s greatest composers and be part of something which is far greater than themselves.The experience of being part of SYO not only shapes them as people, but strengthens communities, and enriches the sound of the future.

Donations provide:

  • Young musicians experiencing financial hardship with access to the SYO Orchestral Training Program each year;

  • Young regional musicians with a travel and accommodation bursary to attend the SYO Summer School in January 2019;

  • Schools in regional NSW to experience concerts by Sydney Youth Orchestras in their own town;

  • Extension programs to further develop the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra;

  • Travel subsidies for young regional musician residing more than 200km from Sydney CBD to be part of the SYO Orchestral Training Program.

All donors will be recognised as SYO Opportunity Fund Supporters for 12 months online and in our concert programs. Donors can also have their gifts recognised in a specific way, or under a different name.

“An orchestra is far more than an artistic structure…it builds a spirit of solidarity, a brotherhood, it develops self-esteem and fosters ethical and aesthetic values”
