PROGRAM INFORMATION

Suitable for young musicians aged 6-19, students are placed in ensembles which match their abilities and extend their knowledge and experience based on the information provided in their enrolment form.

More advanced musicians will have the opportunity to audition for the Senior Orchestra, conducted by the amazing Max McBride on Day 1 of Summer School.

SYO Summer School combines high level orchestral tuition with an emphasis on developing team and ensemble skills in musicians, Established to cover the second week of January each year when parents of school-aged students are looking to occupy their busy and talented young people, SYO provides a week-long open music program packed with choir rehearsals, large ensemble playing, masterclasses and tutorials, music theory and info sessions, as well as the opportunity to make friends and have fun. Summer School culminates with ensemble showcases and concerts to highlight the week’s achievements at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. 

BOARDING

In 2019 SYO will offer catered boarding packages for students to stay in supervised, group accommodation close to the Summer School venue.  If you are interested in boarding, please tick the box in the application form. Boarding is only available to people who live 150km or more away from Santa Sabina College, Strathfield.

* HSC Prep Program requires minimum a minimum enrolment of 15 students to take place. Final program details and outline will made available mid-December, 2018.

All information provided on your child’s behalf will be treated with the strictest confidentially and is required to ensure we can provide the best care for our participants.

SYO employees or volunteers can supply paracetamol with parental permission. For all other conditions or ailments, such as allergies, hayfever, colds etc, participants must have and administer their own medication. SYO employees or volunteers may supervise participants in the administrating of medication, once parental permission is provided.












Permissions 




The SYO 2019 Summer School HSC Preparatory Program is a focused series of lectures and workshops designed to inspire, educate and engage any students making preparations for their HSC. Led by NSW Music educators and long time HSC markers, this program will cover areas of theory and practice that relate specifically to the NSW HSC Music 2 curriculum.
