SYO 2019 UK International Tour

The Sydney Youth Orchestra’s UK tour in April 2019 will visit the musically rich cities of Cardiff, Manchester, London, Cambridge and Oxford. The tour will give students the opportunity to perform in world-renowned venues, work with leading classical musicians from orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and attend performances by world-class orchestras. The tour will also include audition seminars with the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal College of Music in London and include visits to important sites in each city.

If you would like to join the tour please complete the following Expression of Interest form here.

  •  All tour participants must be SYO members in 2019.
  • All applicants from The Sydney Youth Orchestra and SYO Philharmonic will be given preference when tour placements are considered.
  • Expressions of Interest will also be accepted from members of the Peter Seymour Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Orchestra and Western Sydney Youth Orchestra; however, their inclusion in the tour will be at the discretion of the SYO Conductors and staff.
  • Expressions of Interest will also be accepted from musicians who are not current SYO members, but are interested in joining for 2019. In this case, acceptance will be determined by a video audition. Individuals will be contacted with the details.

Musician Details 

If you do not have a current passport or if your passport expires prior to October 25 2019, you will be required to apply for a new passport if you are accepted on to the tour.

If you are over 18 and do not wish to provide the details of a Parent or Guardian, please provide the details of a Next of Kin contact (family member or friend): 

When travelling, all cellibass, trombones and tubas are required to travel in the hold of the aircraft and can not be taken as carry on. These instruments must travel in hard cases. Please note other instruments may also be required to be placed in the hold if they are larger than standard carry-on. This will be communicated to musicians after tour offers are made.  

It is highly recommended that all traveling musicians have instrument insurance. Sydney Youth Orchestras and Hayllar Music Tour do not take responsibility for damages to instruments or any valuable property as a result of activity on this tour including but not limited to aircraft, coach and truck travel. 

Dietary and Medical
This section is to collect information on the participant only. Please complete for yourself if you are 18 years or older, or for your child/ward if you are completing this form on their behalf as their parent or guardian.

If yes and pending your acceptance into the 2019 Tour Orchestra, SYO will require more information about this condition to ensure SYO can provide proper care in the event of an emergency.
