Sydney Youth Orchestras is a not for profit organisation. Musician fees comprise only 35% of the full cost of the SYO Annual Training Program. Through support from Create NSW, our loyal donors and generous sponsors, all musicians’ annual fees are subsidised.
All fees are non-refundable.
Every new applicant and returning SYO musician must audition for each new year.
A non-refundable audition is payable with your application. This fee is $60 for new applicants and $50 for returning SYO members.
For new musicians auditioning on an endangered instrument – viola, double bass or bassoon – the application fee is $50.
For musicians auditioning with an additional auxiliary instrument (e.g. piccolo or bass clarinet) or an additional endangered instrument, a second audition fee will not be charged. If you are auditioning on two different instruments (eg. violin and oboe), you will be required to pay two audition fees as your audition videos are assessed by two different audition panels.
2022 Member Contributions
Arrangements for the payment of the 2022 participation fees are required upon accepting a place in Sydney Youth Orchestras and must be in place before rehearsals commence. There are a number of payment options available including our instalment option which has been designed to help ease the financial pressure on families by spreading out the payment of fees over 10 monthly instalments.
Please note that all fees are non-refundable and discounts can not be applied retrospectively. Any changes to a musicians educational status must be made before payment. Please see our terms and conditions.
Your 2022 Offer email will contain a link to your SYO enrolment form, which must be completed by Saturday, January 15 2022 to formally accept your placement and arrange payment for your 2022 participation fees. You will have the option to make payment in full by credit or debit card online, or by other means (cash, cheque, EFT, instalments). Please contact SYO via email at [email protected] if the payment amount on your form is incorrect.
These contributions include a compulsory annual Association fee of $20 and all transaction fees. The image above aims to provide a simple breakdown of annual contributions for different SYO programs, however these are for illustrative purposes only and should not be considered as an accurate depiction of payment plans.
Fees paid in full online (credit or debit card)
SYO accepts Visa and Mastercard only.
Fees paid in full by other means (cash, cheque, EFT)
If you wish to pay via other means, choose your preferred method of payment on submission of the enrolment form and SYO will contact you to finalise your 2022 participation fee.
Fees paid automatically over 10 monthly instalments
Families have the option to pay their fees over 10 months by automatic direct debit or credit card payment. Please note that there will be a small administration fee of 4% for this option and payments will be processed via Westpac’s PayWay.
