Kathryn Crossing trained as a classical violinist from the age of seven. Throughout her career she has performed extensively in many classical and contemporary settings.
Kathryn attained her Bachelor of Music from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2005. She also has an Associate from Trinity College London and her AMusA performance diplomas.
As a young musician she was a member of the SBS Radio & Television Orchestra where she toured Italy in 2002 and Russia in 2004. In late 2005, Kathryn toured Indonesia with the Bluescope Steel Youth Orchestra as their Associate Concert Master and in 2010 she toured France, Germany and Switzerland with the same group as their violin tutor.
Kathryn was concert master and frequent soloist for the Mosman Orchestra and section leader for the Bourbaki ensemble. She has a wide range of performing and recording experience.
Throughout her career as a musician, Kathryn has had the opportunity to play with many pop stars including Florence and the Machine, Michael Bolton, Guy Sebastian, Human Nature and Kylie Minogue. She taught at the Wollongong Conservatorium for 4 years before returning to Sydney to start her own studio, Crossing Strings. Kathryn is currently the director of the string program at Cromer Public and is passionate about music education.
