Term 1

Term 1 rehearsals have begun and we are settling in to our new home at Santa Sabina College. Everyone is working towards their first performance of the year at the Autumn Showcases. Tickets are available now:

SYO Summer School

SYO Summer School was held at St Mary’s Cathedral College from Monday 8 to Friday 12 January. Students from all over NSW attended. The sold out Showcase on Friday 12th at Verbrugghen Hall was a great success. Read more about SYO Summer School in this article by Charlotte Meadows, a 13-year-old violinist from Dubbo.


Symphonic Orchestral Program Camp was held at Sydney Academy of Sport from Friday 16 – Sunday 18 February. The camp finished with a concert for parents on Sunday afternoon. Read More about camp in this article from WSYO Principal Cellist, Lianah Jaensch.

Coming Up at SYO

Mahler Symphony No. 10 and Stravinsky Firebird Suite

First concert for The Sydney Youth Orchestra Concert Series this year is Mahler Symphony No. 10 and Stravinsky Firebird Suite on April 22 at Verbrugghen Hall, conducted by Alexander Briger AO. It is going to be an incredible afternoon of music and it would be great to see you there. Book Now.

Copland By The Sea

Before Mahler Symphony No. 10 and Stravinsky Firebird Suite a select few musicians from The SYO will be heading down to Bermagui to play at Four Winds and run workshops with local students on the South Coast. Tickets are available here and more information about the workshops will be coming soon.


Orchestral Fundamentals Program Camp is being held at Kings, Parramatta from Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 March, We are looking forward to having lots of fun, learning lots of music, and making lots of friends.
