2019 Season, The Sydney Youth Orchestra

With less than a month to go until audition applications close, SYO are excited to launch a thrilling program for The Sydney Youth Orchestra in 2019.

‘I’m delighted by the musical journey on offer next year for the Sydney Youth Orchestras and their audience. Composers from three centuries and six countries will take us from the mountains of Appalachia to the seventeenth-century Cossack rebellions in the Ukraine, from the exultant praise of the teenage Mozart to the musical enigmas of the moustachioed Elgar, from the sword-fights between the Capulets and Montagues in the streets of Verona to the best-known symphony of them all. And lucky SYO players will take another journey next April when they have the opportunity to play and train alongside some of the UK’s finest orchestras. Chief Conductor Alexander Briger and his troops are building on the ground-breaking triumphs of 2018 as the SYO brand expands further to educate the next generation of brilliant players throughout the State. Make no mistake – Sydney’s ‘other’ great orchestra has arrived! Please give it all the support you can by listening to Australia’s artistic future in 2019.’ – Christopher Lawrence, Chrif Artistic Advisor
