2018 Summer School Rural Commuters – Rose Light
My Future I want to be a professional violinist. This year I plan to be in the RYO and will apply for the AYO. I plan to have my AMus by the time I am 14 years old. I will enter competitions in Australia and internationally. I plan to study music performance at university and to perform as a virtuoso violinist.
SYO Summer School 2018 I am really looking forward to attending the SYO Summer School as it is a chance to learn from top players in Sydney and also to play and perform with students at my level who are also passionate about music.
Supporting rural musicians One way that arts organisations could support young musicians in rural towns is by holding workshops and masterclasses in regional places. This would be great for the students living in regional areas as travel costs can be high to visit large cities to complete the classes. It would also encourage other children living around the area to start learning music as they see that playing a classical instrument is something that they can achieve from a regional area.
My Advice Just do it! Take every opportunity you can, do not let your circumstances limit you. Aim for the stars. I am so grateful to SYO for running the Summer School and for encouraging students in regional areas. I look forward to meeting you all!
This program has been made possible through the generosity of SYO Opportunity Fund Donors and the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation.
