WSYO Big Busk Parramatta

WSYO Big Busk Parramatta

The SYO Big Busk is back in 2023! We are thrilled to be opening up Expressions of Interest for musicians in the Greater Western Sydney Region to join the Western Sydney Youth Orchestra for their performance on Tuesday 26 September. Under the baton of esteemed conductor and educator, Dr Sadaharu Muramatsu, WSYO will be performing in Centenary Square, Parramatta to raise money for SYO’s biggest annual fundraising event, The Big Busk.

The heart of Big Busk 2023 lies in SYO’s commitment to supporting the future of music education. This year’s event aims to raise funds to further SYO’s mission of providing exceptional training and performance opportunities for young musicians.

Play With Us

As a guest musician, this is a fantastic opportunity to perform in Australia’s only public celebration of youth and orchestral music, and to play alongside some of Western Sydney’s most talented young performers.

Guest musicians must be available to attend a rehearsal at The Granville Centre, 2a Memorial Drive, Granville from 5:30-7:30pm on Tuesday 19 September. On Tuesday 26 September, you will need to be available from 5:45pm for a 6:30-7:30pm performance at Centenary Square.

This opportunity is open to orchestral musicians aged eleven to one hundred and eleven! We advise that musicians should be playing at approximately AMEB grade 4 (or equivalent) and above to get the most out of this experience. Please note that this form is an Expression of Interest only – successful applicants will be sent confirmation of their involvement and sheet music to practice prior to the first rehearsal.

Musicians who would like to join us can fill out an EOI form here.
